Please read and follow any instructions posted in public areas or in patients rooms.
As a visitor to Humber River Regional Hospital, you play an important role in keeping our organization safe and helping us prevent the spread of respiratory illness. By observing these simple directions, you can help us keep your loved one safe from influenza:
If you have a flu or have had flu-like symptoms within the last three days, including:
- Fever (or feeling feverish), cough, soar throat, shortness of breath
- Gastro Symptoms - nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea
Do not visit the hospital. Contact your doctor or visit a local health clinic.
Clean your hands:
- The soap and hand sanitizer in patient rooms are for everyone – wash or sanitize your hands when entering and leaving a patient’s room.
- Remind that healthcare providers do the same before caring for your loved one.
- After sneezing, coughing, touching your eyes, nose, or mouth, after using the restroom and before and after eating and drinking.
Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue or your sleeve, and do not sit on patient beds or touch medical equipment.
If the person you are visiting is on Isolation Precautions, talk to the nurse before entering the room to find out what you have to do: wear a mask, put on a gown or use other protective clothing.
