If you do not have a family doctor, call Health Care Connect at 1 (800) 445-1822. This Ontario Ministry of Health service looks at your needs and matches you to a doctor taking new patients.
Search on your own for a Family Doctor
Health Care Connect is here to help, but it doesn’t guarantee that a family doctor will be found. You are urged to keep searching on your own for a doctor. You can call a doctor on HRRH’s Family Doctor list and ask if they are taking new patients. You can also call the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO) at (416) 967-2626 or search the web site at http://www.cpso.on.ca/docsearch/. Finally, you can ask your family, friends and co-workers for referrals.
Find options for immediate care
If you need medical help now, but don’t have a family doctor call Telehealth Ontario at 1-866-797-0000 to get health advice or general health information from a registered nurse or use the Medical Services Directory to find a walk-in or after hours clinic, community health centre, urgent care centre, family health care provider, or family health team.
For medical emergencies, call 9-1-1
If you have a health condition that needs special diagnosis or treatment, your family doctor may refer you to a “Specialist”. To find a Specialist, browse the HRRH Specialist List or call the Health Resource Centre. Also you can search the CPSO web site at http://www.cpso.on.ca/docsearch/
